Korcula to Mljet

We planned to set off for Mljet yesterday. However the thunderous start was accompanied by unexpected wind direction. We nosed out into the channel but soon realised that we would be punching into a headwind for the 6hr trip. Neither pleasant or a good use of precious diesel.
So we retreated back to our anchorage for another day in korcula.
Not a bad place to be! The old town is full of nooks and alleys and lovely to wander around in relative peace before the hordes arrive.
The veg chilli was a great success! Almost too hot to handle after 6hrs in the bag. Veg doesn't go mushy but fully cooked and very tasty
Definitely worth using again to save the rationed gas. I just need to think of other recipes!
Weather still a bit changeable today but wind more favourable and we had a blast all the way doing 5-6 knots upwind and berthed stern to at a slightly dodgy looking pontoon in a small bay (Okuklje). The deal is free mooring in exchange for eating at the owners restaurant. He assures us there are vegetables...
We had about 6hrs of sailing but arrived feeling pretty exhausted. Goodness knows how folk manage a trans Atlantic!
